Wishing Tree moderation policy
Updated 25 May 2026
The Wishing Tree is a community space for sharing wishes with dignity. To keep it safe, we use a 4-layer moderation system: crisis detection, basic automated rules, AI-based automated moderation, and Indonesian-language context review. Most wishes publish within seconds. A small share enters the admin queue for manual review.
Layer 0 — Crisis detection
If wish content contains words signaling self-harm risk or acute despair, the wish automatically enters the admin queue and the wisher receives an email with mental-health hotline numbers. This system does not judge — its only goal is to make sure someone is ready to listen.
Layer 1 — Basic automated rules
Client-side checks: content length, PII detection (national ID, account numbers, irrelevant phone numbers), and obvious profanity filtering.
Layer 2 — Automated moderation (OpenAI)
OpenAI's automated moderation service checks content against standard categories (violence, hate, adult, harassment). Safe content publishes immediately. Borderline content enters the queue. Clear violations are blocked.
Layer 3 — Indonesian-language context (Claude)
For ambiguous cases, Claude Haiku reviews Indonesian language and cultural context — including SARA nuances, Pancasila, and potential scams that may slip past keyword filters.
Admin queue
The Solacea team manually reviews every wish in the queue. We approve safe content, or reject with a reason recorded in the audit log. Rejected wishes never appear on the public tree.
Community reports
Anyone can report a suspicious wish. If a wish receives 3 unreviewed reports, the system automatically hides it until an admin reviews.
